Not a current location. Community sightings and hydrophone detections are opportunistic. Days without dots do not mean the selected whales were absent. Exact routes between reports are unknown.
How reports and estimates work Only records that match the selected whale group are used, and the source's own interpolated row is excluded. Exact times are shown when the source supplies them; date-only records follow source record order. J, K and L pod use a labelled route replay. Bigg's, humpback and gray whales use report maps because one moving icon could falsely suggest one animal's route.
For pod replays, the moving icon follows the nearest SalishSeaCast water cells, routed around land where needed. If reports are more than three days apart, the route breaks and the icon holds at the last reported point instead of inventing movement.
